What Is the Most Eco-Friendly Plastic Bag?

Although plastic bags are at most reasonable price and widely used all over the world, the use of them recently has been criticized by many organizations due to certain environmental reasons. As we all know, normal plastic bags cause a large problem for our earth and subsequently, for the creatures inhabiting it. Every year, they account hundred thousand tons of landfill space all over the world. They cause pollution to water, land and air, at the same time, they effect to the life of thousand species of animals. A plastic bag takes about 1,000 years to naturally degrade and when it does, it releases very hazardous toxins into the environment. Moreover, to produce plastic grocery bags, people have to use millions of barrels of oil per year which is not renewable once it is used.

Although the word “recycling” is much used today, it amazes me that so many of my neighbors and students still don’t think it is important enough to fully participate to the best of their ability. Some people are motivated by a mere suggestion, but others continue to quickly put up a wall of denial when it comes to being personally involved in recycling. Many cities and towns now provide free blue containers for recycling and give citizens a list of what is recyclable and what is not.
